Types of Surveys Generally Used in Home Purchases Mortgagee Title Inspection - An inspection made by a surveyor solely for use of a lending agency to evaluate title problems relating to possession. The resultant sketch shows the approximate relationship of the improvements to the property line. No survey markers are set. Boundary Survey - A survey made to establish or re-establish a boundary line on the ground, or to obtain data for construction of a map or plat showing a boundary line. Land Title Survey - A survey of real property, including the plat of the survey, acceptable to a title insurance company for the purpose of insuring title to said real property, free and clear of survey questions, except those questions disclosed by the survey and indicated on the plat.
